NYC monument announced to honor COVID-19 essential workers
On Wednesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced plans for a monument to honor essential workers who worked on the frontlines during the pandemic. This plan was protested by a group of New Yorkers who feel parks were vital to wellbeing during the pandemic and fear building the concrete structure will take away the largest green space in NYC. Cuomo says the Circle of Heroes monument “will be a permanent tribute to their heroism & service.”
