Men’s U.S. Soccer union speaks in support of the women’s equal pay lawsuit
The U.S. men’s national soccer team signed and submitted an amicus brief in support of the women’s team (USWNT) in their equal pay lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation. Last year a judge dismissed the USWNT’s lawsuit for wage discrimination alleging the women were actually paid more than the men. The men’s union has backed the USWNT’s appeal stating that the dismissal was “legally wrong and defies reality,” and accusing U.S. Soccer of treating the women’s team as “second-class citizens.”
