Fleishers workers stage a mass walkout following the removal of BLM and LGBTQ+ signs
A customer who reported that they were offended by signs in support of Black Lives Matter sparked a mass employee walkout at Fleishers butcher shop. When the company’s leading investor instructed the CEO to remove signs in New York and Connecticut storefronts, the CEO took a train the next day and took down flags supporting BLM and the LGBTQ+ community. The next day all locations had banded together to walkout, and at least 20 of the company’s 40 workers resigned. The company has closed its storefront through August and offered remaining employees a $2 hourly raise.
