Starbucks employees look to form a union
Starbucks workers in Buffalo, NY are looking to start the chain’s first ever union. Roughly 50 employees have formed what they call “Starbucks Workers United” and wrote an open letter to Starbucks CEO detailing their intent to unionize. The committee is trying to represent all 20 Buffalo-area stores and currently has support from 18 of them. A Starbucks spokesperson says the company has a “positive work environment and outstanding compensation and benefits,” so they do not believe a union is necessary.
