New climate jobs being endorsed by the labor movement
America’s labor movement is taking a stance on the climate crisis. States like Connecticut, New York, and Texas have passed legislation to guarantee good wages and benefits to workers on clean energy projects. In Texas, 121 labor unions voted in support of a resolution in July for a climate jobs program. The president of the Texas AFL-CIO said “The world is changing…. are we gonna just watch it happen, and watch jobs disappear and watch new jobs created in a way that doesn’t lift up working people, or can we actually sit at the table and try to direct that change?”
