Union leader on trial for bribery
On Tuesday, a powerful Philadelphia labor boss went on trial for bribing a city official. The Local 98 of the International Brother of Electrical Workers’ leader, Johnny Dougherty is accused of keeping city council member Bobby Henon on the union payroll in a no-show, $70,000 salaried job. Neither party have pleaded guilty, and the trial is set to last about six weeks. Dougherty will face a second trial for embezzlement from the IBEW union and maybe a third for additional charges.
