Facebook settles discrimination and violation claims
Facebook has settled with the Department of Justice and the Department of Labor for their discrimination against US workers in the recruitment and hiring process and violations of the permanent labor certification program (PERM). Under the settlement with the DOJ Facebook will pay $4.75 million in civil penalties and make available $9.5 million for payouts to eligible victims. With the DOL the company will have to continue submit to ongoing audits and greater scrutiny to ensure its compliance with the PERM program for the next three years.
