New York employers can’t test workers for cannabis
Albany's Labor Department announced new guidance on Tuesday that bans employers in the state from testing employees for cannabis. Under the new rules employers can only test their employees if they show visible signs of impairment on the job. Employers are allowed to ban workers from possessing cannabis on the job site. For workers who are required to be tested under federal and state law, like commercial vehicle drivers, will still have to submit to cannabis drug testing.
