NY’s governor promises relief to the state’s struggling tourism industry
New York’s governor, Kathy Hochul, has proposed a $450 million package to stimulate New York’s struggling tourism industry. The tourism industry, prior to COVID-19, was the state’s third-largest industry and employed about 10% of its workers. The package would offer one-time payments to laid-off workers, grants to employers rehiring workers, and tourism promotions. Ms. Hochul said, “We want to put incentives on the table so no one has an excuse not to get back to work.”
