Many healthcare workers are still unvaccinated
The federal vaccine mandate for healthcare workers will require them to have received their final COVID-19 vaccine dose by January 4th. Many facilities and experts are concerned that this requirement will trigger staffing shortages. According to research conducted by the CDC, nearly 1/3 of healthcare workers in hospitals are still not vaccinated against COVID-19. Healthcare workers in children's hospitals have the highest rate of vaccination with 77% of workers having both doses and they also found the vaccine rates differ drastically by location. Only 65% of workers are vaccinated in rural counties as opposed to 71% in metropolitan counties.
