Detroit automakers ask workers to submit COVID-19 vaccine status with approval of UAW
Union leaders from General Motors, Ford Motor, and Stellantis met on Monday night in a joint coronavirus task force. During this meeting, it was agreed that the companies would have employees voluntarily and confidentially disclose their vaccination status. Roughly 153,000 plant employees were notified of this change in a joint statement released by the UAW and the automakers on Tuesday. While they support this move, the UAW has not changed their position on not supporting vaccine mandates.
