Demand for foreign workers is meeting union pushback
The Biden administration is pursuing an expansion of temporary work visas to address ongoing labor shortages but is facing pushback from organized labor. The administration is looking to expand the number of temporary work visas issued to migrant workers. The Department of Homeland security will be issuing 20,000 additional H-2B temporary visas that would allow workers to come to the U.S. and work for a maximum of three years. Organized labor has pushed back against this claiming that these programs will undermine U.S. born workers.
