Fast food bill in California Senate could be a big win for workers
The FAST Food Recovery Act, known as AB-257 is currently awaiting a vote in California Senate. The bill would impose minimum standards on wages and other working conditions related to the safety, health, and welfare of workers. It would also establish a Fast-Food Sector Council within the state Department of Industrial Relations that would set these conditions. Although, the bill would be limited to the scope of fast-food restaurants with 30 or more establishments nationally. If this bill succeeds in becoming law, it will be the first of its kind in the country.
