Citi says they will pay for workers to travel for abortions considering bans across several states
In a letter to shareholders as part of its annual proxy statement, Citigroup announced that they will be giving travel benefits to employees to facilitate their access to abortion clinics. In the letter they said, “In response to changes in reproductive healthcare laws in certain states in the U.S., beginning in 2022 we provide travel benefits to facilitate access to adequate resources.” According to a source close to the matter the expense allotted will include plane tickets and hotels. This is likely part of Citi CEO Jane Fraser's attempt to “brand Citi as the bank with a soul.”
