Airline workers across the U.S. demand better wages and benefits
For National Day of Action, airline workers in Charlotte, L.A., New York, Washington D.C., Phoenix, and San Francisco held rallies for better pay and benefits on Wednesday. According to research conducted by the SEIU, most airline workers in the underpaid positions, such as baggage handlers and cabin cleaners, are majority people of color who often don’t have healthcare coverage. An airline worker in Charlotte said, “We have employees living in cars, sleeping in shelters and they don’t make enough money, we’re the frontline workers.”
