Amazon workers suffer injuries at inflated rates
The Strategic Organizing Center released a report wherein they found that Amazon warehouse workers in the U.S. have suffered serious injuries at twice the rate of rivals in 2021. From 2020 to 2021, Amazon’s reported injuries went up about 20%. In the report, most injuries were categorized as “injuries where workers were hurt so badly that they were either unable to perform their regular job functions or forced to miss work entirely.” Despite these numbers, Amazon spent $300 million on improving worker safety in 2021.
