On Wednesday Amazon announced that they will be lifting their cell phone ban for its warehouse workers. During the pandemic they temporarily suspended the ban but said they would reinstate it in January 2022. For Amazon warehouse workers in Staten Island, who unionized this month, one of their demands was an end to the cell phone ban. Hundreds of workers signed a petition in December saying, “Taking our phones away isn’t about safety; it about controlling us.”
