Amazon cuts paid COVID-19 leave for workers
On Saturday, Amazon announced to their workers that they will no longer be offering paid sick time for workers who test positive for COVID-19. Previously the company offered up to two weeks of paid time off and in January reduced the leave to one week. They will now allow up to five days of excused but unpaid leave for workers who test positive. They will not be allowing time off for workers awaiting a COVID test since rapid tests are widely available and they will stop incentivizing vaccination efforts.
