COVID-19 committee finds evidence that meatpacking companies put workers at risk
The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis published a report following their investigation of the meatpacking industry’s COVID-19 response. The committee found several inconsistencies in communications and evidence of escaping regulations by meat producers Tyson, Smithfield, JBS USA, Cargill, and National Beef. The report cited that in the first year of the pandemic over 59,000 workers got COVID-19 and at least 269 died.
