Workers continue to fight for unionization despite strong opposition from companies
Recently, there has been an increase in unionization efforts across the United States at major corporations such as Chipotle and Starbucks. Despite this surge in the labor movement and heightened popular support for unions, many US companies still staunchly oppose unionization, and there have been reports of store closures and firing of employees in response to unionization efforts. As such, there has also been a subsequent rise in unfair labor practice charges filed, but these investigations have been delayed due to underfunding and understaffing at the NLRB. Employer opposition to unions has not stalled workers from continuing to organize though, which can be highlighted by ongoing unionization drives at Starbucks locations.
