A new stadium is being built in Qatar for the upcoming World Cup, and it has been repeatedly stated by Fifa and the local World Cup committee that this massive project has sparked improvements in the living and working conditions for low-wage workers in the region. However, migrant laborers contracted for this project are living in filthy, cramped conditions in the cabins provided by their employer, Al Sulaiteen Agricultural and Industrial Complex (SAIC). Furthermore, there have been multiple allegations of violations to the workers' welfare standards. Workers have reported experiencing low wages, debt from being forced to pay illegal fees to secure their jobs, and not having permission from the company to leave or find other work.
