Despite federal initiatives to increase diversity in the workforce, US State Dept workers report discrimination
Recently, data from an internal survey has revealed that employees in the US State Department are experiencing workplace discrimination and sexual harassment. This information emerged just weeks after the State Dept unveiled new initiatives to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. The department's goals to retain a diverse workforce is a result of Biden's 2021 executive order to improve equity within the federal workforce and address the longstanding lack of diversity. However, there have been criticisms of the initiative's effectiveness due to this new evidence of discrimination and the lack of accountability amongst leadership ranks.
