The motivations behind the recent vote rejecting unionization at Amazon facility in Albany, NY
Yesterday, workers at an Amazon warehouse facility in Albany, NY voted to overwhelmingly reject unionization. Workers who were in favor of joining a union stated that they had been seeking better pay and less harsh policies regarding unpaid time off. However, the majority of employees voted against the union, citing that they did not want union dues to come out of their paychecks and that Amazon already offers them generous pay and benefit packages. Furthermore, some workers expressed skepticism about the competency of the newly formed ALU and its leadership. As such, there is the potential for unionization to gain traction at Amazon once the ALU becomes more established.
