Policy protecting pregnant women in the workplace to be included in US government funding package
On Friday, amendments to the federal government spending package were sent to President Biden, including a provision called the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. This bill would require employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and enshrine legal protections for the many women working low-wage, physically demanding jobs. Furthermore, it would specifically protect women of color, as they are disproportionately affected by this issue. The bill has already been passed in the Senate and House with bipartisan support, and it has wide ranging support from businesses as well.
