British economy struggles as more sick workers leave the workforce
In Britain, a significant portion of working-age adults with health conditions left the workforce during the pandemic and have not returned. There has been persistent high economic inactivity since the pandemic, which has been linked to poor health and the aging population. These factors have motivated some people to remain out of the workforce, and the issue has been exacerbated recently by the strike actions of public sector healthcare workers. As a result of the tight labor market in the UK, there have been strains on the economy, as well as strains on peoples' health and wellbeing.
