Some Trader Joe's employees express frustration over new policy increasing the hours for part-time workers
At some Trader Joe's store locations, managers have been strongly encouraging employees to work more hours and part-time employees in particular to work a minimum schedule of three days per week. This has put a strain on some part-time workers and restricted the flexible schedules sought out by part-time workers. Subsequently, this has caused some people to allege that the company is anti-union, as it coincides with rising unionization efforts at various Trader Joe's stores. However, employment lawyers have commented that the policy does not seem to have an anti-union legal basis.
