Mass layoffs in the tech industry make it more challenging for unions to successfully appeal to white collar tech workers
Recent layoffs of white-collar jobs at tech companies like Meta and Amazon have negatively affected some unions' plans to try and organize big tech workers. This is because workers are more fearful of losing their jobs, which makes them less willing to support union campaigns. While union organizers are optimistic that changes in people's relationships with work post-pandemic will drive union success regardless, the impending financial recession is factor that will likely dampen such organizing efforts.
