German airport workers go on strike over pay dispute, effectively grounding air travel across the country
On Friday, air travel was essentially stopped in Germany after hundreds of ground crew workers went on strike over a pay dispute. At seven of Germany's major airports, workers in the Ver.di union and Civil Service Association engaged in the strike and are demanding pay increases. The strike aligns with the Munich Security Conference currently being held in Germany with an increase of visitors and delegates. As a result, many business leaders have expressed their disapproval of the strike and its impact on passengers and the country as a whole.
