Google employees to share desks as company consolidates its office spaces in latest cost reduction strategy
After conducting the largest workforce reduction in company history, Google is now asking its workers to share desks as it ends some of its office leases. These changes are meant to improve real estate efficiency to consolidate its real estate footprint as the company looks to improve its cost structure. Google will adopt a rotational model in which workers will be matched with a partner to share a desk two days a week and then alternate between working from home and at the office the remainder of the week.
