Graduate students at Stanford have decided to unionize
Ph.D. students and researchers at Stanford University voted to unionize last week. Stanford graduate students and workers have stated that the wages they earn have not kept pace with inflation over the past few years. Wages and work conditions vary greatly between different departments, and students want a set standard for these working environments. Certain students have stated that they don’t have enough income to pay for childcare services, healthcare, and food expenses. Students believe that when they experience a lower quality of life due to insufficient wages, the research and work they do is negatively affected.
