London Underground train drivers will no longer strike as negotiations have advanced
The Aslef union and Rail, Maritime, and Transport union have suspended strikes that were planned for next week. The unions represent London Underground train drivers, and drivers were planning on walking out over disputes regarding pay, pension, and employee benefits. Negotiations have significantly progressed, and industrial action will no longer be taken by drivers. However, the unions are still fighting against Transport of London plans that would extend shifts, reduce sick leave, and adjust driver attendance policies. The unions state that all the proposed changes will negatively impact driver’s personal lives, and would also lead to driver layoffs.
