Various Amazon Fresh employees will be affected by layoffs as Amazon restructures the grocery store management and operations. The stores will cut out lower management positions that oversee specific departments in the stores as well as help train new hires. Amazon believes that the layoffs will improve efficiency in Amazon Fresh stores around the country. Employees affected by the layoffs will have the opportunity to fill other positions at Amazon or accept a severance package. The layoffs at Amazon Fresh follow Amazon’s largest round of layoffs in company history, as over 27,000 jobs were cut last year.
