The Alphabet Workers Union that represents Google employees has filed a complaint against Google, alleging that the company violated labor laws. The claim states that Google fired a majority of Google Help workers as the group was in the process of unionizing. The Google Help Team is composed of launch coordinators, graphic designers, and writers, and the group focuses on improving the quality of the Google search engine and the AI chatbot. The workers are employed by Accenture, but workers state that Google is also their boss and should be considered a joint employer. Google claims that the company has little control of these jobs, and is not an employer of these workers. The National Labor Relations Board will determine if there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that Google is a joint employer.
