Kaiser Pemanente healthcare workers are fighting for wage increases in contract negotiations
Thousands of Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers around the United States have held rallies and pickets as the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions and management negotiate new contracts. The union represents over 85,000 healthcare employees in seven states and Washington D.C. Employees state that they want Kaiser Permanente to implement measures to reduce understaffing, decrease high workloads, and increase worker pay. Kaiser Permanente has low retention rates due to low wages and high living costs, and this causes chronic understaffing. Management has stated that workers are overpaid, while many employees struggle with financial challenges. The union is demanding a minimum wage of $25/hour for all positions at Kaiser Permanente.
