Unionized clerical workers and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville administration begin new round of contract negotiations
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville administration and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees union will meet this week to negotiate a new contract. The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees union represents clerical employees at SIUE, and the union states that SIUE administration has treated them with disrespect and previously bargained in bad faith. Workers are demanding increased pay and greater benefits, stating that 12-month clerical employees have fewer benefits than 9-month university employees. Union members have been raising public awareness about the upcoming contract negotiations, and they have received positive feedback from the Edwardsville community.
