Amazon’s primary airline is struggling to retain pilots
Amazon utilities eight various airlines to deliver Amazon products, and Air Transport International is one of the primary airlines for the company. The airlines’ employees are represented by the Air Line Pilot Association, and the union is demanding higher wages for workers. The airline is experiencing a large decline in pilots due to low pilot wages, and for the second month in a row has been unable to fill airline captain vacancies. In the past two years, over half of Air Transport International pilots have left the company. Commercial pilot wages are significantly greater than ATI pilot wages, and commercial pilots also receive more benefits and better career progressions. Air Transport International employees state that they have to work long hours, and many workers experience fatigue and burnout.
