SAG-AFTRA members will vote on strike authorization against major video game corporations
SAG-AFTRA is seeking approval of strike authorization against various video game companies from its members. Contract negotiations between the union and video game companies will start again in late September, and SAG-AFTRA stated that previous negotiations have not been successful and the companies have not met SAG-AFTRA’s demands. The video game companies involved in negotiations include Activision, Epic Games, and WB Games, which produce a majority of popular video games. SAG-AFTRA claims that these companies are earning significant revenue but will not share the earnings with workers because of corporate greed and lack of respect toward employees. The union is seeking protections against the increasing use of AI in the video game industry, as well as immediate wage increases and subsequent wage increases in the following years.
