New Zealand hotel chain offers jobs to individuals affected by work visa scams
The New Zealand Accredited Employer Work Programme allows individuals from other countries to migrate to New Zealand and work in the country. The workers spend large amounts of money to find work opportunities in New Zealand that are approved by the program and to find housing in the country. Recently some individuals in the program found out that their position was a scam, and they did not have a job in New Zealand. The hotel chain Sudima Hotels offered to help these individuals and provided them with employment opportunities. The workers are on exploited worker visas instead of normal worker visas, and New Zealand Immigration officials will investigate the details of the situation. The government has also pledged to provide support to work scam victims who have been unable to find employment with housing accommodations and living cost payments.
