Google will cut hundreds of recruitment and human resources positions
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has announced layoffs that will primarily affect employees in Google’s recruiting and human resources sector. Google made significant job cuts earlier this year, with 12,000 positions being cut to reduce the company’s expenses and improve future financial performance. The company is focusing on slowing down its hiring process, and as fewer employees are being hired, Google no longer needs as large of a recruiting team as before. Google will provide affected employees with severance packages and other benefits, and help place workers into their next job. Layoffs in the tech industry have been common this past year, as other industry leaders such as Microsoft and Meta have also had to lay off employees due to instability in the US economy.
