Trains around the United Kingdom will experience disruptions due to upcoming driver strikes
Train drivers around the United Kingdom have planned another round of walkouts set to occur in late September and early October. The timing of the strikes coincides with the Conservative Party Conference, and politicians along with thousands of civilians will be impacted by disruptions in train services. Train drivers in the UK are represented by the Aslef union, and the union has called for sixteen train operating companies to halt operations, as well as ban overtime work on various days next month. Aslef stated that the salaries of train drivers have not increased in the past four years, and wage increases are needed to match the rising cost of living in the United Kingdom. The government and train operating companies are warning passengers to plan ahead and to take alternative modes of transportation.
