NFL claims that the NFL Players Association encouraged players to lie about injuries
The National Football League is filing a claim against the National Football League Players Association, the union that represents the league’s players. NFL management is stating that the NFL Players Association advised running backs to contemplate faking injuries or exaggerating current injuries, in an attempt to gain more leverage in contract negotiations. Various players have stated that it is growing more difficult for players of certain positions to gain leverage in contract negotiations and that the union’s statement was attempting to help players get the contract they deserve. The league stated that any player who took this advice would be considered in violation of the collective bargaining agreement. The grievance that the NFL filed will be examined by an arbitrator, who will decide the proper course of action.
