Union workers in Detroit gathered in downtown rally this week
Hundreds of workers in Detroit gathered on Thursday to protest for better contracts. Workers ranged from automotive workers, casino employees, insurance workers, and nursing home staff, and these individuals all joined together to demand greater wages and better working environments. Elected government officials joined the rally, and gave speeches about the widespread support that the state of Michigan has for unions. They also encouraged workers to keep up the fight for better wages and conditions. Union leaders also addressed the hundreds of workers, providing updates about the negotiations with company management. Various leaders stated that they have faced resistance during negotiations, but that they will not back down from getting the benefits that workers deserve.
