Over a hundred positions have been cut at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville
A university in the University of Wisconsin system announced widespread layoffs that will cut down the institution's workforce by 12%. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will cut over a hundred positions, and the university chancellor stated that the staff reductions will allow the funds to be allocated toward student programs. Various faculty members decided to retire, while others took voluntary separation agreements. Other cuts included open positions, however, a majority of job cuts laid off or terminated the renewal of staff contracts. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is not the only school in the University of Wisconsin system to make significant job cuts, as the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh laid off around 140 staff members and educators. These layoffs are largely attributed to declining student enrollment and growing budget deficits.
