Tesla Mechanics in Sweden strike to pressure Tesla to negotiate collective agreements
Mechanics employed by Tesla in Sweden began strike action this week, to push Tesla to accept a collective labor agreement with workers. Port workers in Sweden have expressed solidarity with Tesla mechanics, and have stated that they will not unload Tesla products from various ports. IF Metall is the union that represents around 120 Tesla mechanics who work in Tesla service facilities in the country. Tesla has entered contract negotiations with mechanics after pressure from mechanics and dock workers, and fear of other unions joining in the strike action. Sweden has labor laws that allow other unions to hold solidarity strikes to support other unions. Sweden is a largely unionized country, with 70% of workers belonging to unions and 90% of workers covered by collective agreements.
