Thousands of faculty members at institutions in the California State University system will strike for five days this week. The California State University system consists of 23 campuses, and every campus will participate in the strike action. Professors, lecturers, coaches, and other faculty will be on strike, and these employees are represented by the California Faculty Association. Strike action will take place during the first week of the spring semester at these universities, but classes have not been officially canceled. Campuses will stay open during this period, and CSU management stated that campuses will implement contingency plans to reduce disruptions. Skilled trade workers at CSU campuses, who are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, were also planning to strike this week, but strike action was called off after a tentative agreement was reached between the union and the California State University system.
