American Airlines to lay off hundreds in customer service division
Earlier this week, American Airlines announced upcoming layoffs that will affect hundreds of employees in the company’s customer service division. American Airlines stated that the customer service division will be restructured, and the company will design a new customer success team that will provide better support for customers. Affected employees will be provided with outplacement services, and the airline will offer certain workers other open positions in different departments. American Airlines will also provide severance packages as well as outplacement services to these affected workers. The layoffs are estimated to cut 656 jobs, which is around three percent of American Airlines’ customer service team. The affected employees are not represented by a union.
