Thousands of employees at Canada’s largest media and telecom company have been laid off
Bell Canada Enterprises, the largest media and telecommunications company in Canada, recently announced layoffs that will affect thousands of employees. Bell Canada Enterprises is the parent company of Bell Media, and Bell Media has eliminated all weekday noon CTV stations in Canada, except for in Toronto. Bell Media has also canceled a majority of weekend night CTV and CTV2 stations except for in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. These cuts mean that news stations around Canada have been significantly reduced or have been removed completely. The company sold 45 news stations and laid off 4,800 employees. The total workforce at Bell Canada Enterprises will be reduced by nine percent.
