Travelers in Germany will continue to be affected by widespread strike action in the German transportation industry
Thousands of workers in Germany went on strike earlier this month, and the strike action disrupted the country’s transportation industry. Transportation worker strikes will continue this week after two unions announced that workers would be taking strike action to demand wage increases and improved working conditions. Ground staff workers at Lufthansa Airlines and Deutsche Bahn train drivers will be participating in the strikes, and travelers will experience delays and cancellations this week. Unionized Lufthansa employees are represented by the Ver.di Union and Deutsche Bahn train drivers are represented by the Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokomotivführer Union. It is estimated that approximately 200,000 travelers will be affected, and 1,000 flights will be canceled each day that workers are on strike.
