John Deere announces layoffs at machinery plant
John Deere announces that numerous employees at the company’s Ankeny, Iowa campus will be affected by layoffs. The Ankeny location manufactures various types of heavy machinery and agricultural equipment. The layoffs will affect around 150 workers, and the cuts will likely affect production workers. A majority of the factory’s workers work in production and maintenance. The company stated that the factory is conducting changes to optimize the workforce. John Deere is also developing and expanding the company’s facility which is focused on plant sprayers. The company is also seeking to build a new lab in the Ankeny area.
