French Mint employees responsible for producing Olympic medals go on strike
Employees at the French Mint are producing the Olympic medals for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, but workers have gone on strike demanding wage bonuses, stating that other workers involved in the Olympic Games have received additional compensation. The French government is providing police officers and government workers who work the duration of the Olympic Games with wage bonuses. French Mint workers are represented by the General Confederation of Labour union, and the union states workers deserve wage increases because of rising inflation in France. The French Mint released a statement claiming that the strike action has not disrupted medal production as medals were already in the finishing stages of production, and the medals will still be finished and delivered on time. The French Mint has to produce around five thousand medals for the Olympic Games.
